Debian Jessy 8.5 released

Time is not waiting for anyone. It always keep on running. Yes. Fifth update is released in Debian 8.x jessy stable series. This update, denoted by version 8.5 brings bug fixes for some serious issues reported in previous releases. Some significant security issues are also addressed.

Debian 8.5, being an update in Debian stable series does not require a new installation for current Debian 8.x users. Instead they can migrate to this update just using normal system update command.

The Debian project is pleased to announce the fifth update of its stable distribution Debian 8 (codename jessie). This update mainly adds corrections for security problems to the stable release, along with a few adjustments for serious problems. Security advisories were already published separately and are referenced where available.

Upgrading to this revision online is usually done by pointing the aptitude (or apt) package tool (see the sources.list(5) manual page) to one of Debian's many FTP or HTTP mirrors.
