BackBox Linux 4.2 Released


BackBox GNU/Linux developers announced release of BackBox Linux 4.2, a Ubuntu based GNU/Linux distribution developed to perform penetration tests and security assessments. BackBox Linux is designed to be fast, easy to use and it provides a minimal but complete desktop environment.



BackBox Linux is based on Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS. According to release announcement, BackBox Linux 4.2 comes with following features.

  • New Ubuntu 14.04.2 base

  • Installer with LVM and Full Disk Encryption options
