Elive 2.9.5 beta released with various visual improvments

The Elive Linux team has announced availability of Elive 2.9.5 for testing. This release comes with various design improvements and visual effects planned for next stable release.

In addition to visual improvements made on top of enlightenment desktop, there has been multiple usability improvements and bug fixes to make it more reliable and robust for day to day use. In official release announcement, Elive team has summarized these changes.

• Designs: Great improvements in the designs for the stable release! Overall cleanup, lots of transparent elements, logo animated at start, shadows 3d effect, clock design
• Unique Features: The borders has now 4 buttons instead of 3, and there’s a hidden one that appears if a window cannot be closed
• Effects: The visual effects stability is improved specially in the Live mode and there’s a fix for the locked desktop when using it
• Eltrans: Our translator tool has the counter for translated sentences fixed and there’s a fix in the grammar checker. Please be a translator before the stable release!
• Extra: you can use ctrl+s in vim to save files now, tagbar feature also recognizes EDC source files which makes them very handy to browse elements!

Elive 2.8.6 beta released with improved stability and design

The Elive Linux team has announced availability of Elive 2.8.6 beta, new development release for Debian based live GNU/Linux distribution offering delighted Enlightenment experience. This release comes with improved performance, bug fixes and redesigned look and feel.

Some of the key highlights of eLive 2.8.6 are mentioned in their official release announcement.

• Performance Improvement : A fair amount of effort is spent on performance improvement of this release and it has improved the performance almost double.
• Updated Design : Elive 2.8.6 comes with a redesigned menu, redesigned animated wallpaper, bigger shadows for 3d effect when they are on focus, readability of text on dock has been improved and it comes with smoother  effects 
• Improved stability and configurations to have good eye-candy in combination with speed and useful features, a very old and important bug was finally fixed making it a stable environment for daily work
• Audio cards configuration fixed
• Integrated gadget in the desktop to have a more handy access and use of your inserted media’s like an USB or CDROM
• Improved boot menu with more user-friendly and understandable options

Elive 2.7.2 beta released with improved look and feel

The Elive team has announced availability of Elive 2.7.2 beta, latest development release of upcoming Elive project. Elive is a Debian based beautiful GNU/Linux distribution featuring highly customized Enlightenment Desktop environment. Elive is mainly targeting people who can appreciate it's core design principles.

Elive 2.7.2 beta is coming with a refined look and feel, which is contributed by new design principles and well crafted icon theme and other artworks. Spotify - Advanced Music Store - is configured to work on the fly. Other notable highlights includes bug fix that enable Thunar to open terminology as default terminal emulator, and customized GIMP which provides improved productivity.

There’s a big work in design, but not yet finished, about the designs, specially for the icon set of Elive, this includes things like default filetypes associated to icons and a really big rethinking about the intuitiveness of the widget icons, like the icon for delete things which none of the red icons similar to a warning or a stop signal are more intuitive than a small trash icon, the icons used for the dialogs like questions or warnings which we use a lot are also more intuitive to understand what they are for, the hard disk icon in your file manager looks much better now and the trash has even a recyclate state when its full. The icons in the menu of applications are also updated to better ones, your filemanager icon is more intuitive too, The eject button for your medias are much more visible and intuitive too, and a Big list not mentioned.

Elive 2.7.1 beta released

The Elive team has announced availability of Elive 2.7.1 beta for testing. Elive is a Debian based, live CD distribution that comes with well customized enlightenment window manager.

Being a development release, Elive team takes a disclaimer that, beta releases are less optimized as it will include development flags and debugging options. So it is not meant for end users who prefer to have stable, beautiful operating system.

Following are some notable highlights of Elive 2.7.1 beta release.

• Audacity (audio wave editor) included by default
• Timezone detection improved
• Detector of systems improved and updated to detect last windows installed systems
• Linux Kernel updated with a lot of new patches for new hardware, bugfixes and improvements
• Google Voice search on internet using your microphone

The Elive team announced availability of Elive 2.6.18 Beta, latest development release of Debain based, fast and beautiful GNU/Linux distribution featuring Enlightenment as default desktop environment.

Elive Linux 2.6.12 Beta Released

The Elive team announced availability of Elive Linux 2.6.12 Beta, latest development release of Debian based GNU/Linux distribution that features Enlightenment as default desktop environment.

From official release announcement of Elive 2.6.12:

This version includes bugfixes in the installer handling special cases and some improvements in the overall speed process. The desktop has now the clock by default included and there’s some improved configurations by default too. We still working on the packaging for the other architectures like 64bit and different distros to keep the updates and fixes more reliable in the future.
