The Devuan team has announced release of Devuan Jessy 1.0.0 RC2, second release candidate for upcoming stable GNU+Linux distribution, which is a fork of Debian without systemd. This release makes another step towards the final Devuan release, which is going to be the first long term supported (LTS) release of project.
Devuan 1.0.0 RC2 is an incremental development release of RC1, which was released two weeks ago. The first release candidate was well accepted by the open source community and press. Since then, Devuan team has made significant changes in the project. These changes can be summarized as follows:

- Fixed issues with signing keys
- free and non-free firmware packages are now included in desktop-liveand minimal-live isos. A script to remove all non-free firmware packages from running live images is provided in /root
- backports (bpo) repos are now correctly pinned at priority 100, meaning that no package from backports will be automatically installed
- Included a customized version of network-manager which is independent of systemd
- Update packages like reportbug, desktop-base, xfce4-panel
- Additional systemd free packages are included in proposed repo
- Removed GNOME, KDE, and Cinnamon as DE options in tasksel. These three DEs are still (mostly) installable after the installation iscomplete, but they are known to suffer from some glitches due to the lack of systemd
- Fixed several minor bugs
- A total of 29 different ARM boards are now supported
