Mr Matthias Klupp has announced availability of Tanglu 4 beta, latest development release of Debian based desktop operating system that tries to offer best experience to the users. Tanglu 4 which is known by the code name Dasyatis Kulii comes in GNOME, KDE and Core flavors.
This beta release contains many changes - most notably, imports from Debian are frozen now and we ship with our final versions of KDE and GNOME.See original release announcement in Tanglu mailing list.
It also contain the following highlights:
We are planning to update Mesa to 12.0 and also update the kernel prior to doing the final release of Tanglu 4.
- systemd 229
- Linux 4.6
- KDE Plasma 5.6
- GNOME 3.20
When testing Tanglu 4 Beta, please keep in mind that it is a development snapshot release and still contains rough edges. As always, we ship with less packages than Debian does, due to reduced manpower and transitions that have been done. In case you miss any package you need, please file a bug. It is likely that the packages will be reintroduced anyway very soon, but by filing a bug you can ensure that the package is taken care of. If you experience problems with the Beta release, you might find help on the forums[1] - or simply report a bug[2].
Known issues for the Beta include the live-installer only launching from terminal in the GNOME flavor, and the GNOME flvavor not showing GDM if run in VirtualBox, unless you boot with "quiet splash" removed from the kernel command line. Currently, we also still have some broken non-core packages in the development suite.
