FreeBSD 10.3-RC1 Released

The FreeBSD team announced release of FreeBSD 10.3-RC1, latest development release of advanced BSD distribution that is capable for powering modern servers, desktops, embedded systems..etc

FreeBSD 10.3-RC1 comes just a few days after release of previous development release, FreeBSD 10.3 Beta 3.

According to official release mail, following are some changes introduced in FreeBSD 10.3-RC1 after previous development release.
  • In the pf(4) DIOCRSETADDRS IOCTL, a possible out-of-bounds write has been corrected.
  • OpenSSL has been updated to version 1.0.1s, which provides security fixes for CVE-2016-0702, CVE-2016-0705, CVE-2016-0797, CVE-2016-0798, CVE-2016-0799 and CVE-2016-0780.
  • Hyper-V drivers - hv_netvsc(4) and hv_vmbus(4) in particular - now wait longer for hypervisor results, which avoids attach failures of network and storage devices.
  • A regression in the INTx handler of nvme(4) introduced mid-January 2016 onto the stable/10 branch has been addressed.  The most likely scenario to hit the panic caused by that flaw was to run FreeBSD on Google Compute Engine with a local SSD as NVMe.
