After the successful launch of BQ Aquaris E4.5, the first Ubuntu power smart phone, Meizu MX4, the second Ubuntu powered smart phone hits market. Meizu MX4 is now available in Chinese market and it will be launched in Europe in near future.
The second Ubuntu Phone to be commercially released is a 5.2-inch smartphone powered by an eight-core MediaTek MT6595 SoC (modified by Meizu), 2GB RAM and comes with 16GB of built-in flash storage. It runs the latest version of Ubuntu (for Phones) rather than the FlymeOS Android fork Meizu traditionally ships on its handsets. Like the Bq Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition, the Ubuntu version of the Meizu MX4 is also being pitched at developers initially.Don’t be glum if you’re not in China. Canonical say the eight-core Ubuntu MX4 will “be sold across Europe soon”. The American readers among needn’t look cross at yet another ‘European only’ Ubuntu Phone release either.
