The Ubuntu team has unveiled Ubuntu 16.10, latest stable release of worlds most popular open source operating system that powers a wide variety of devices around the earth. This release comes with hybrid cloud operation support and unity 8 developer preview.
The Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety Yak is a regular 6 month release of Ubuntu and will be supported for coming 9 months unlike Long Term Supported(LTS) releases which will be supported up to 5 years.
Ubuntu 16.10 is coming with Unity 8 developer preview, which is an effort by Canonical to provide hybrid user experience in different devices like tablets, mobiles and laptops. Also, the snap projects has improved to merge container and packaging technology give developers a single format to distribute their apps and services from cloud to IoT.

LONDON 13th October 2016: Ubuntu, the platform used in the majority of cloud deployments worldwide, today released version 16.10 with hybrid cloud operations, bare-metal cloud performance, the ability to lift-and-shift 80% of Linux VMs to machine containers, Kubernetes for world-leading process-container coordination, full container support in OpenStack, and telco-grade networking latency enhancements.A detailed release announcement is available in Ubuntu Insights page.
