GNOME 3.20 'Delhi' Released : Brings new features and refinements.

The GNOME project announced release of GNOME 3.20, latest stable release of popular desktop environment. GNOME 3.20 is named 'Delhi as a recognition to this year's GNOME.asias organizing team.

This release of GNOME comes with several major features and refinements to provide a better user experience. GNOME 3.20 is a result of 6 months of development effort contributed by 870 developers across the globe.



According to official release announcement, following are major highlights of this release.
  • OS upgrades can now be installed using Software
  • Wayland support has improved significantly, with kinetic scrolling, drag-and-drop, and middle-click paste
  • Keyboard shortcuts and gestures can be easily learned with new shortcut overlay windows
  • Privacy controls have been improved with per-application location access
  • Quick access to media controls directly from the shell
  • Searching in Files has been much improved
  • Builder can now build XDG-Apps, a new cross-distro framework for building and distributing desktop applications. These can also be installed directly from GNOME Software
