feren OS 2017.0 Murdock released, based on Linux Mint 18.1

The feren OS developer has announced release of feren OS 2017.0, latest stable release of Linux Mint based, flexible, and visually appealing GNU/Linux distribution featuring Cinnamon desktop. This release of feren OS is based on Linux Mint 18.1 and brings several updated packages, visual improvements and other bug fixes.

One of the notable highlight in feren OS 2017.0 is removal of Mint Welcome in favor of Budgie Welcome, a simple yet powerful welcome app developed by Ubuntu Budgie team which introduces the operating system surroundings to the end users and provides easy options to customize operating system. Feren OS comes comes with a visually customized version of Budgie Welcome, and it has been renamed to Feren Welcome.

Other highlights of Feren OS 2017.0 can be summarized as follows:
  • feren OS 2017.0 is based on Linux Mint 18.1. It comes with updated packages and themes. Automatic update is enabled by default.
  • Mouse Bug has been fixed
  • All themes work properly under Cinnamon 3.2
  • Many bugs have been fixed that were reported
  • Removed Mint Welcome and ships a customized version of Budgie Welcome
  • Feren OS theme switching application has been revamped. Now it can preview currently selected theme.
