Netrunner Desktop 16.09 released for x64 systems

The Netrunner team has announced availability of Netrunner Desktop 16.09 for x64 computers. This release of Netrunner Desktop edition includes several updated packages like Linux Kernel 4.7, KDE Plasma 5.7.5, Firefox 49.0 ..etc.

The Netrunner Desktop edition is a complete operating system built on top of Netrunner Core edition. That means, it is a Debian stable based operating system that integrates KDE technologies.

Netrunner Desktop 16.09 Avalon, being a release built on top of recently released core edition, is based on Debian 8.x Jessy branch. Also, it shares the same KDE Plasma, Frameworks and KDE Application packages on Debian Stable.

In addition to the tested KDE features included in this release, there exist backports repositories which users can enable if they wish to have latest KDE technologies. This will help users to choose between a tested release and a bleeding edge release of KDE Plasma and associated technologies.
Besides the base system that is shared with Core, Netrunner Desktop includes a wide selection of software applications already preinstalled and configured, like KDEnlive, Gimp, VLC, Libreoffice, Audacious, Steam, Skype, Transmission, Virtualbox, Krita, Inkscape and many more.
